This is the traditional way Estonians prepare cabbage. Thanks to the carrots and the apple, the sour taste of the cabbage is softened.
- 1/2 cabbage
- 1-3 carrots according to size
- 1 apple
- 2 tb spoons of oil
- salt, pepper
Grate carrot(s) and apple.
Chop or grate cabbage.
Boil some water.
In a pan, slightly heat the oil and add in cabbage, carrots and apple. Stir for a few minutes then add boiling water, salt and pepper.
Water should barely cover the vegetables.
Cook covered for 30 minutes or until tender.
